Hi I wonder if you can help me. You published a picture of a Railway Officers bungalow in Bandikui in January and I believe that my husbands father's family lived in the property in the 1940s. Can you tell me if this property is still standing and if anyone lives in it? My husband and I are travelling over from the UK next year and are hoping to see the property and also see if we can find any family links in Bandikui. His Grandfather, Felix Fernandes lived in the property with his family in the late 1940s
Hi. My husband's grandfather was called Felix Fernandes and we believe that he lived in the Railway Officers Bungalow, that you posted a picture of on January 29th in the late 1940's. He was married to Edna Rachel. Their children were Eileen Margaret, Bernard Leonard, Maurice Anthony, Denis Keith, Carlisle Ernest, Yvonne Cecilia and Raymond Arnold. There were three other children who unfortunately died in childhood (Geoffrey Michael, Hubert and Valerie). They attended St Francis Roman Catholic Church. We think they may have moved to Bandikui from Fategarh because of Felix's job on the railways and they left India to sail to England in early 1950. We understand there was also a family with the name of Drane that lived in Bandikui (they were related to the Fernandes family). Do you know if anyone still lives in the bungalow as we would like to visit it when we travel to Bandikui next March and also try and visit some of the other buildings that were linked to the railways. Do you know if the Railway Institute is still in Bandikui. Many thanks
